1. Introduzzjoni
The VTSYIQI Multi-Mode Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge MT180 is an advanced instrument designed for precise thickness measurement of various materials. Operating on principles similar to SONAR, it offers high accuracy for a wide range of applications.
This gauge features two primary measurement modes: Pulse-Echo (P-E) mode for general thickness measurement and flaw detection, and Echo-Echo (E-E) mode, which allows for accurate measurements by eliminating the thickness of paint or other coatings.
It is suitable for measuring the thickness of materials such as metals (steel, aluminum, copper), plastics, ceramics, composites, epoxies, and glass, provided they are good conductors of ultrasonic waves. Specialized transducer models are available for specific applications, including coarse grain materials and high-temperature environments.

3. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi
This section details the steps for operating your ultrasonic thickness gauge, including powering on, selecting modes, and performing measurements.
3.1. Power On/Off
Agħfas il- Qawwa button (usually marked with a circle and a vertical line) to turn the device on or off. The LCD display will illuminate upon activation.
3.2. Għażla tal-Mod
The gauge supports two measurement modes: Pulse-Echo (P-E) and Echo-Echo (E-E).
- Modalità Pulse-Echo (PE): This is the standard mode for measuring material thickness and detecting internal flaws.
- Echo-Echo (E-E) Mode: Use this mode to measure the true material thickness underneath a coating (e.g., paint) without including the coating's thickness in the measurement.
Biex taqleb bejn il-modi, agħfas il-buttuna PE-EE button. The selected mode will be indicated on the display.
3.3. Kalibrazzjoni
Accurate measurements require proper calibration. The gauge offers zero calibration and two-point calibration.
- Kalibrazzjoni Żero: This compensates for any delay in the probe and cable. Refer to the detailed manual for specific steps.
- Two-Point Calibration: This improves linearity over the measurement range. It typically involves measuring two known thicknesses.
Agħfas il- CAL button to access calibration functions.
3.4. Teħid tal-Kejl
- Ensure the probe is properly connected and the device is calibrated.
- Apply a small amount of coupling gel to the surface of the material to be measured. This ensures good ultrasonic transmission.
- Place the probe firmly and flat against the prepared surface.
- Read the thickness value displayed on the LCD screen.
- The gauge can operate in Modalità ta' Punt Uniku (seven readings per second) or Modalità ta 'Skennjar (sixteen readings per second). Use the SKANJA button to toggle scan mode.

4. Manutenzjoni
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your VTSYIQI MT180 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge.
- Tindif: After each use, wipe the probe and the gauge's surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove any coupling gel residue or dirt. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ħażna: Store the device in its protective carrying case when not in use. Keep it in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Sostituzzjoni tal-batterija: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears to prevent inaccurate readings or device malfunction. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Kura tas-Sonda: Handle the probe with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to harsh impacts, as this can damage the transducer element.
5 Issolvi l-problemi
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ultrasonic thickness gauge.
- No Reading or Unstable Readings:
- Ensure sufficient coupling gel is applied and there are no air gaps between the probe and the material.
- Verify the probe is firmly and flatly placed on the surface.
- Check for proper probe connection to the gauge.
- Recalibrate the device (zero calibration and two-point calibration).
- Ensure the material is suitable for ultrasonic measurement and within the gauge's measuring range.
- Indikatur tal-Batterija Baxxa:
- Replace the two 'AA' batteries with new ones.
- L-Apparat Mhux Jixgħel:
- Check if the batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge.
- Kun żgur li l-għata tal-kompartiment tal-batterija tkun magħluqa sew.
