1. Introduzzjoni
The Milescraft 1342 EuroHingeJig is designed to assist in creating and installing precise 35mm concealed hinge holes for cabinet door projects. This tool ensures repeatable holes on both framed and frameless cabinets, simplifying the process of hinge installation. It features adjustable settings for cup hole edge distance and vertical positioning, along with a durable metal bushing drill guide for accurate drilling.
2. Informazzjoni dwar is-Sigurtà
Always prioritize safety when using power tools and drilling equipment. Read and understand all instructions before operation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, to protect against flying debris. Ensure your workpiece is securely clamped to prevent movement during drilling. Keep hands and fingers clear of the drilling area. This product may expose you to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. 4. Setup
Proper setup is crucial for accurate hinge hole drilling.
- Attach the 35mm Boring Bit: Secure the 35mm Forstner bit into your drill chuck.
- Set Cup Hole Depth: The jig features built-in depth gauges on the left and right sides. Use these to set the desired depth for your 35mm hinge cup hole. Ensure the depth stop is securely fastened to the bit.
- Insert Drill Guide: Place the metal bushing drill guide into the central opening of the jig. Align the tabs on the side of the guide with the slots in the jig's base, press down firmly, and rotate clockwise to lock it into position.
- Position the Jig on Workpiece: Place the jig on your cabinet door. Use the two edge alignment knobs to position the cup hole from the edge of the door. The jig aligns to 6 common cup hole edge distance settings.
- Set Vertical Position: Insert the edge locator pin into the appropriate hole (3" or 4") to quickly set the cup hole's vertical position from the top or bottom edge of the door.

5. Operazzjoni
Follow these steps to drill precise hinge holes and pilot holes:
- Secure the Jig: It is highly recommended to clamp the jig securely to your workpiece using woodworking clamps. This prevents movement and ensures accuracy during drilling.
- Drill the Hinge Cup Hole: With the 35mm Forstner bit attached to your drill and the jig securely clamped, carefully drill the hinge cup hole. Apply steady, downward pressure, ensuring the drill remains straight and perpendicular to the workpiece. Avoid applying side pressure, which can cause the drill guide to heat up and potentially deform the plastic jig.
- Ċipep Ċari: Periodically lift the drill bit to clear wood chips from the hole, especially when working with dense materials like MDF.
- It-tħaffir minn qabel tat-toqob pilota: The jig has guide bushings for pre-drilling pilot holes for hinge mounting screws. Use the included 1/16" drill bit. You may need to mark the desired pilot hole locations by pushing the bit through the jig's holes, then remove the jig to verify with your hinge, and re-position the jig to drill.
- Mark Hinge Location on Cabinet Frame: Detach the hinge marking guide from the bottom of the jig. Use this guide to transfer and mark the center lines and hinge location onto the cabinet wall or frame, ensuring proper alignment for hinge installation.

6. Manutenzjoni
To ensure the longevity and performance of your Milescraft Euro Hinge Jig:
- Tindif: After each use, wipe down the jig to remove wood dust and debris. A soft cloth is usually sufficient.
- Lubrikazzjoni: Apply a light film of grease (e.g., axle grease) to the shaft of the Forstner drill bit, especially where it contacts the metal bushing drill guide. This helps reduce friction, heat buildup, and wear on both the bit and the bushing. Avoid oil, as it may stain wood.
- Ħażna: Store the jig and its components in a clean, dry place. The jig is designed to store the Allen key, 1/16" drill bit, locator pin, and cabinet locator measuring tool within its body for convenience.

7 Issolvi l-problemi
If you encounter issues while using the Euro Hinge Jig, consider the following:
- Inconsistent Hole Depth: Ensure the depth stop on the 35mm Forstner bit is securely tightened and correctly set using the jig's built-in depth gauges.
- Bit Freezing or Dull Cutting: This can occur with dense materials or if the bit is dull. Ensure your drill has sufficient power. Consider lubricating the bit shaft as described in the Maintenance section. If the bit is dull, it may need sharpening or replacement.
- Jig Movement During Drilling: Dejjem uża clamps to secure the jig firmly to the workpiece. Any movement can lead to inaccurate holes and potential damage to the jig or workpiece.
- Pilot Holes Not Centered: While the jig provides guides, slight variations can occur. Verify the correct pilot holes for your specific hinge type. The jig allows for accurate re-positioning if needed.
- Plastic Deformation Around Drill Guide: This is typically caused by excessive side pressure or lack of lubrication, leading to heat buildup. Ensure you apply pressure straight down and lubricate the bit shaft.
Tip: Before working on your final project, practice on a scrap piece of material to familiarize yourself with the jig's operation and settings.
