Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi (Kif Tilgħab)
The objective of Lingo is to correctly guess mystery words (LINGOs) and longer Puzzlewords to earn money.
Game Overview:
- Players take turns attempting to solve LINGOs.
- Each LINGO starts with the first letter revealed.
- Players write their guesses for the LINGO on the wipe-clean game unit.
- Feedback is given using colored marker tiles:
- Aħdar: Letter is correct and in the correct position.
- Isfar: Letter is part of the LINGO but in the wrong position.
- Aħmar: Letter is not in the LINGO at all.
- Correctly solving a LINGO earns money.
- Failing to solve a LINGO within the time limit allows opponents to steal.
- Longer Puzzlewords are attempted at the end of each round.
Gameplay Steps:
- Start a Round: The first player is given a mystery LINGO with only the first letter revealed on the game unit.
- Dawra tal-Plejer:
- The player writes their guess for the LINGO on the wipe-clean game unit.
- Start the sand timer.
- After the guess, the other players (or a designated host) provide feedback using the colored marker tiles.
- Place a green tile over letters that are correct and in the right spot.
- Place a yellow tile over letters that are in the word but in the wrong spot.
- Place a red tile over letters that are not in the word.
- Continue Guessing: The player continues to guess, using the feedback to refine their next attempt, until they either solve the LINGO or run out of time.
- Solving a LINGO: If the player correctly guesses the LINGO, they bank the money associated with that word (as indicated on the scorepad or game rules).
- Running Out of Time/Incorrect Guess: If the player runs out of time or makes an incorrect guess that cannot be corrected, the turn passes to the next player, who can attempt to steal the LINGO.
- Stealing a LINGO: If an opponent steals the LINGO, they earn the money.
- Puzzleword Round: After a set number of LINGOs (refer to the specific game rules for round structure), a Puzzleword round begins. These are longer words and offer higher rewards.
- Nirbħu l-Logħba: The player with the most money at the end of the game (after a predetermined number of rounds or Puzzlewords) wins.
