1. Introduzzjoni
This manual provides instructions for the proper use and maintenance of the McKesson LUMEON Blood Pressure Cuff and Bulb. This product is designed for use with most aneroid sphygmomanometers (gauge not included) to measure blood pressure in adult patients with an arm circumference between 23 cm and 40 cm.
Proper application and technique are essential for accurate blood pressure readings. Please read all instructions carefully before use.
2. Komponenti
The McKesson LUMEON Blood Pressure Cuff and Bulb package includes the following components:
- Nylon Cuff (Adult Medium, 23-40 cm)
- Two-Tube Bladder
- Bozza tal-Inflazzjoni b'Valv tar-Rilaxx tal-Arja
- Female Luer Slip Connector

3. Setup
- Connect to Sphygmomanometer: Ensure your aneroid sphygmomanometer (blood pressure gauge) is ready for use. Connect the female Luer slip connector from the cuff's tubing to the corresponding male connector on your sphygmomanometer. Ensure a secure fit to prevent air leaks.
- Pożizzjonament tal-Pazjent: Ħalli l-pazjent joqgħod bilqiegħda komdu b’dahru appoġġjat u saqajh ċatti mal-art. Id-driegħ magħżul għall-kejl għandu jkun appoġġjat fil-livell tal-qalb.
- Poġġiment tal-pulzieri: Slide the cuff onto the patient's bare upper arm. The lower edge of the cuff should be approximately 2-3 cm (about one finger's width) above the elbow crease. The artery mark (indicated by an arrow on the cuff) should be positioned over the brachial artery, typically on the inner side of the arm.
- Waħħal il-Maniċċa: Wrap the cuff snugly around the arm, ensuring it is not too tight or too loose. The Size Guide marking system on the cuff assists in achieving correct placement and fit.
4. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi
Once the cuff is properly positioned and connected to a sphygmomanometer (gauge not included), follow these steps to take a blood pressure reading:
- Agħlaq il-Valv tar-Rilaxx tal-Arja: Turn the screw on the inflation bulb's air release valve clockwise until it is fully closed.
- Onfoħ il-Maniċċa: Onfoħ il-mankuffa malajr billi tagħfas il-bozza tal-inflazzjoni sakemm il-gauge jaqra madwar 20-30 mmHg 'il fuq mill-pressjoni sistolika tas-soltu tal-pazjent, jew sakemm il-polz radjali ma jibqax palpabbli.
- Deflate and Read: Slowly open the air release valve by turning it counter-clockwise, allowing the cuff to deflate at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second. Listen for Korotkoff sounds through a stethoscope (not included) while observing the gauge.
- Qari tar-Reġistrazzjoni: Note the pressure at which the first clear, tapping sound is heard (systolic pressure). Continue deflating until the sounds disappear or become muffled (diastolic pressure).
- Complete Deflation: Fully open the air release valve to completely deflate the cuff. Remove the cuff from the patient's arm.
Note: For accurate readings, wait at least 1-2 minutes before taking a repeat measurement on the same arm.
5. Manutenzjoni u Kura
- Tindif: The nylon cuff can be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse the cuff, bladder, or bulb in water. Ensure the cuff is completely dry before storage or next use.
- Diżinfezzjoni: For disinfection, use a standard medical disinfectant wipe on the exterior surfaces of the cuff, bulb, and tubing. Follow the disinfectant manufacturer's instructions.
- Ħażna: Store the cuff and bulb in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid folding the tubing sharply to prevent damage.
- Spezzjoni: Regularly inspect the cuff, tubing, and bulb for any signs of wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace components if damage is observed to ensure accurate readings.
6 Issolvi l-problemi
- Qari mhux eżatt:
- Ensure the cuff size is appropriate for the patient's arm circumference (23-40 cm for this adult medium cuff).
- Verify correct cuff placement, with the artery mark over the brachial artery.
- Check for air leaks in the tubing, bladder, or connections to the sphygmomanometer.
- Ensure the patient is relaxed and properly positioned.
- Il-Maniċċa Mhux Qed Tintefaħ:
- Confirm the air release valve on the bulb is fully closed.
- Check for disconnections or severe leaks in the tubing or bladder.
- Cuff Deflates Too Quickly/Slowly:
- Adjust the air release valve to control the deflation rate (aim for 2-3 mmHg per second).
- Inspect the valve for debris or damage if it cannot maintain a consistent deflation rate.
