Setup

1. Installing/Changing Batteries

The Olympus OM-10 requires two LR44 type batteries for its light meter and electronic functions. Follow these steps to install or replace them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom plate of the camera.
  2. Use a small coin (like a penny) to unscrew the battery compartment cap by turning it counter-clockwise.
  3. Remove the old batteries, if any.
  4. Insert two new LR44 batteries with the positive (+) side (flat side) facing upwards.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cap and screw it in clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten.
  6. To check battery function, flip the "CHECK" switch on the top plate. A red light on the front of the camera and an audible beep indicate working batteries.

2. Attaching/Detaching the Lens

The OM-10 uses an OM-mount lens system. To attach or detach a lens:

  1. To detach: Locate the two small buttons on the silver ring of the lens mount. Pinch these buttons and turn the lens counter-clockwise until it stops, then gently pull the lens away from the camera body.
  2. To attach: Align the red dot on the lens with the red dot on the camera's lens mount. Insert the lens and turn it clockwise until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened.

The OM-10 uses 35mm film. To load film:

  1. Open the camera back by lifting the film rewind knob all the way up.
  2. Insert the film cartridge into the left chamber.
  3. Pull the film leader across to the take-up spool on the right. Insert the film leader into one of the slots on the take-up spool.
  4. Advance the film slightly using the film advance lever to ensure the film is securely engaged with the take-up spool and sprockets.

The Olympus OM-10 primarily operates in aperture-priority automatic exposure mode. It also supports manual exposure with an optional manual adapter.

  • Aperture-Priority Auto (AUTO): Set the lens aperture ring to your desired f-stop. The camera will automatically select the correct shutter speed for proper exposure.
  • Manual Adapter (optional): If you have the manual adapter, attach it to the camera. This allows you to manually set both aperture and shutter speed.

Self-Timer
