The Extech LCR200 is a passive component LCR meter designed for precise measurements of inductance, capacitance, and resistance. It supports various functions including Hi/Lo limit settings, Open and Short Zero calibration to remove stray impedances, and an Auto Power Off feature. The meter is supplied with a built-in test fixture and external test leads, powered by a 9V battery.

The front panel includes a large LCD for displaying measurement results, function buttons (FREQ, HOLD, L/C/R, CAL, D/Q/θ, REL/%/↑, ENTER, SER/PAR, SORT, SETUP, Power, Backlight), and input jacks for connecting test leads. A 'GUARD' terminal is also present for advanced measurement configurations.

5. Setup

5.1 Installazzjoni tal-batterija

The LCR200 operates on a single 9V battery. To install or replace the battery:

6. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi

6.1 Measurement Modes (L/C/R)

Agħfas il- L/C/R button to cycle through Inductance, Capacitance, and Resistance measurement modes. The meter can also automatically detect the component type.

6.2 Secondary Parameter Display

Agħfas il- D/Q/θ button to cycle through the display of secondary parameters: Dissipation (D), Quality Factor (Q), Phase (θ), and Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR).

6.3 Test Frequency Selection

Agħfas il- FREQ button to select one of the five available test frequencies: 100Hz, 120Hz, 1kHz, 10kHz, or 100kHz. The optimal frequency depends on the component type and value being measured.

6.4 Open and Short Calibration

To ensure accurate measurements by removing stray impedances from test leads or the built-in fixture, perform an Open and Short calibration:

  1. With no component connected to the test terminals, press the CAL button to perform an Open circuit calibration.
  2. Short the test terminals (e.g., by connecting the test leads together or inserting a shorting bar into the built-in fixture), then press the CAL button again to perform a Short circuit calibration.

6.5 Series/Parallel Measurement Modes

6.8 Tifi Awtomatiku

The meter automatically powers off after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. This feature can be disabled if continuous operation is required (refer to the full manual for specific instructions).

7. Manutenzjoni

8 Issolvi l-problemi

  • No Display or Power On: Ensure the 9V battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
  • Qari mhux eżatt: Perform an Open and Short calibration (Section 6.4). Verify that test leads are securely connected. Select the appropriate test frequency and series/parallel measurement mode for the component being tested.
  • Difficulty with Built-in Test Fixture: Some users may experience stiff internal contacts in the built-in test fixture, making it difficult to insert component leads without bending them. If this occurs, utilize the external test leads with alligator clips provided with the meter for easier connection.
  • Data Out Port Not Functioning: The 'Data Out' port on the LCR200 model is not implemented for data transmission. This is a design specification and not a malfunction.
