5. Setup
5.1 Installazzjoni tal-batterija
The LAN-1 tester is powered by one 9V battery, which is typically pre-installed. If replacement is needed:
- Kun żgur li l-apparat ikun mitfi.
- Sib l-għatu tal-kompartiment tal-batterija fuq wara tal-unità prinċipali.
- Remove the screw(s) securing the cover and carefully open it.
- Remove the old 9V battery and disconnect it from the terminals.
- Connect a new 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- Poġġi l-batterija fil-kompartiment u erġa’ poġġi l-għatu, billi twaħħlu bil-vit(i).
The battery provides power for up to 20 hours of testing.
5.2 Kejbils tal-Konnessjoni għall-Ittestjar
Before testing, ensure the cable is disconnected from any active network equipment.
- For patch cables (short cables not installed in walls): Connect one end of the cable to the RJ45 or BNC port on the main unit and the other end to the corresponding port on the remote terminator.
- For installed cables (e.g., wall plates, patch panels): Connect one end of the cable to the RJ45 or BNC port on the main unit. Connect the remote terminator to the other end of the installed cable (e.g., at the wall plate in another room).
6. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi
6.1 Tixgħel/Jitfi
Agħfas l-isfar QAWWA button to turn the device on. Press it again to turn the device off.
6.2 Twettiq ta' Test
Once the cable is connected, you can perform a test:
- Agħfas il- TEST button to initiate a cable test.
- Automatic Scan (AUTO mode): Agħfas il- AUTO button. The tester will automatically scan through each pin (1-8 and G) and display the results sequentially. This is suitable for quick checks.
- Manual Scan (MAN mode): Agħfas il- Bniedem button. Each press of the Bniedem button will advance the test to the next pin, allowing for a detailed examination of each connection.
- Funzjoni ta' Żomm: Agħfas il- ŻOMM button to pause the current display of the pin-out indicator. Press it again to resume scanning.
6.3 Interpretazzjoni tal-Indikaturi LED
The 18 red and green LEDs on the PIN-OUT INDICATOR provide visual feedback on the cable's status:
- LED aħdar: Indicates a correct connection for the corresponding pin.
- LED aħmar: Indicates an error for the corresponding pin (e.g., open circuit, short circuit, miswiring).
- L-ebda LED: May indicate an open circuit or a broken wire for that pin.
- Buzzer: An audible buzzer will sound when an error condition is detected, providing an additional alert.
The LEDs on the remote module will mirror the main unit's display for the corresponding pins, allowing for verification of end-to-end continuity.
6.4 Kontroll tal-Istatus tal-Batterija
Agħfas il- BATT button to check the battery level. The BATT LED will illuminate if the battery has sufficient power. If the BATT LED does not light up or is dim, replace the 9V battery.
