1. Introduzzjoni
The Palmer PAN03 is an active 4-channel DI (Direct Injection) box designed for professional audio applications. It allows you to convert unbalanced, high-impedance signals from instruments or line-level sources into balanced, low-impedance signals suitable for mixing consoles or recording interfaces. Each channel features a jack input with a parallel output for signal pass-through, and an attenuation switch (-30 dB) to accommodate line or loudspeaker signals. The PAN03 is built in a 19-inch rack-mount format for easy integration into studio or live setups.
- 4-Channel Active DI Box: Provides four independent channels for signal conversion.
- 19-inch Rack Mount Chassis: Designed for standard audio rack installations.
- Front Panel Access: All connections and switches are conveniently located on the front panel for ease of use.

3. Konfigurazzjoni u Konnessjonijiet
The Palmer PAN03 is designed for straightforward integration into your audio setup. Follow these steps for proper connection:
- Konnessjoni tal-Enerġija: Connect the appropriate 9V DC power adapter (not included, typically supplied with the unit) to the "9V DC IN" jack on the rear panel of the PAN03.
- Konnessjoni tal-Input: For each channel (A, B, C, D), connect your instrument or line-level source (e.g., guitar, keyboard, mixer output) to the "INPUT" jack on the front panel using a standard 1/4-inch TS or TRS cable.
- Ħruġ tal-Link (Mhux obbligatorju): If you need to send the input signal to another device simultaneously (e.g., a guitar amplifier), connect a cable from the "LINK" jack on the front panel to the input of that device. This output is a direct, unbalanced pass-through of the input signal.
- Balanced Output Connection: Connect the "BALANCED OUTPUT" XLR connector on the front panel of each channel to the XLR input of your mixing console, audio interface, or other balanced input device. These outputs provide a balanced, low-impedance signal.
- Rear Panel Outputs (Alternative): The rear panel also features "OUTPUT A" through "OUTPUT D" XLR connectors, which are parallel to the front panel balanced outputs. You can use either the front or rear XLR outputs based on your rack cabling convenience.

4. Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi
Once connected, the PAN03 is ready for operation. Each channel operates independently.

Figura 4.1: Close-up view of the Palmer PAN03 front panel controls for a single channel. This highlights the INPUT, LINK, PAD, GND LIFT, and BALANCED OUTPUT XLR connections.
- PAD Switch (-30 dB):
This switch attenuates the input signal by 30 dB. Engage the PAD switch when connecting high-level sources such as line outputs from mixers, active instruments, or loudspeaker outputs (e.g., from an amplifier's speaker output, ensuring proper load termination if required by the amplifier). This prevents input clipping and ensures a clean signal.
- GND LIFT Switch:
The Ground Lift switch disconnects the ground connection between the input and output stages. This is primarily used to eliminate hum or buzz caused by ground loops. If you experience unwanted noise, try engaging this switch. If the noise persists or worsens, disengage it.
- Fluss tas-Sinjal:
The signal enters via the INPUT jack. It is then buffered and converted to a balanced, low-impedance signal. The PAD switch affects the input level before conversion. The GND LIFT switch affects the ground path. The processed signal is then sent to the BALANCED OUTPUT XLR connector (front and rear).
5. Manutenzjoni
The Palmer PAN03 is a robust device designed for long-term reliability. Minimal maintenance is required.
- Tindif: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes. Ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from all sources before cleaning.
- Ħażna: Store the unit in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. When not in use for extended periods, it is recommended to disconnect the power adapter.
- Ventilazzjoni: Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, especially if rack-mounted, to prevent overheating.
