Informazzjoni dwar is-Sigurtà

TWISSIJA: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety goggles, when using screw extractors. Failure to do so may result in serious eye injury.

  • Kun żgur li l-biċċa tax-xogħol tkun clamped before attempting extraction.
  • Select the correct size extractor for the screw to be removed. Using an incorrect size can damage the extractor or the workpiece.
  • Apply steady, even pressure when turning the extractor. Avoid excessive force, which can cause the extractor to break.
  • If an extractor breaks inside a screw, it can be extremely difficult to remove. Exercise caution.
  • Keep tools clean and free from oil or grease to maintain a secure grip.
  • Store the set in its provided tray to prevent damage and loss.

Setup

No assembly is required for the Sealey AK720 screw extractor set. The extractors are ready for immediate use. Ensure you have the necessary tools for drilling a pilot hole, such as a drill and appropriate drill bits, before beginning the extraction process.

Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi

  1. Prepare the Damaged Screw: Ensure the area around the damaged screw is clean and free of debris. If the screw head is broken off, ensure the surface is as flat as possible.
  2. Drill a Pilot Hole: Using a drill bit smaller than the screw extractor, drill a pilot hole into the center of the damaged screw. The depth of the hole should be sufficient to allow the extractor to grip firmly. Refer to the markings on the extractors for recommended drill bit sizes (e.g., "USE DRILL 5/32" for No. 3 extractor).
  3. Select the Correct Extractor: Choose an extractor that fits snugly into the pilot hole. The extractor should be slightly larger than the pilot hole but smaller than the screw's core diameter. The set includes various sizes to accommodate different screw diameters.
  4. Insert the Extractor: Gently tap the square end of the chosen extractor into the pilot hole with a hammer until it bites firmly into the screw material.
  5. Turn the Extractor: Use a tap wrench or an adjustable wrench on the square end of the extractor. Turn the extractor counter-clockwise (left-hand thread) slowly and steadily. As you turn, the extractor's tapered, reverse-threaded design will grip the inside of the damaged screw, causing it to loosen and back out.
  6. Continue Extraction: Maintain steady pressure and continue turning until the damaged screw is fully removed.

Nota: For very stubborn screws, apply penetrating oil and allow it to soak in before attempting extraction.

Manutenzjoni

  • Tindif: After each use, wipe the extractors clean with a dry cloth to remove any metal shavings or debris.
  • Ħażna: Store the screw extractor set in its original storage tray in a dry place to prevent rust and corrosion.
  • Spezzjoni: Periodically inspect the extractors for any signs of wear, damage, or dulling of the cutting edges. Replace any damaged extractors to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Issolvi l-problemi

  • Extractor Not Gripping:
    • Ensure the pilot hole is drilled to the correct size and depth.
    • Verify that the extractor is firmly tapped into the pilot hole.
    • Try a slightly larger extractor if the current one is slipping.
  • Extractor Breaking:
    • This usually indicates excessive force or an improperly sized pilot hole.
    • Ensure you are applying steady, even pressure, not sudden jerks.
    • Confirm the pilot hole is not too small for the extractor, which can cause undue stress.
    • Consider using penetrating oil on stubborn screws.
  • Screw Not Loosening:
    • The screw may be seized. Apply penetrating oil and allow ample time for it to work.
    • Ensure you are turning the extractor counter-clockwise.
    • If the screw is very tight, gentle tapping on the extractor while turning may help break the bond.
