2. Setup

2.1 Żpakkjar u Spezzjoni Inizjali

Carefully remove the tripod from its packaging. Inspect all components for any signs of damage. Ensure all leg locks, the geared column mechanism, and the head plate are functioning correctly before use.

2.2 Extending the Legs and Adjusting Spread

  1. Release Leg Locks: Flip the quick-action leg lock levers on each leg section to unlock them.
  2. Estendi r-Riġlejn: Pull each leg section downwards to extend them to the desired length.
  3. Secure Leg Locks: Flip the quick-action leg lock levers back to their closed position to secure the leg sections. Ensure they are firmly locked to prevent collapse.
  4. Adjust Leg Angle: The center brace system allows for individual leg angle adjustment.
    • For quick setup, use the two "click stop" positions on the telescopic center braces to achieve a consistent spread angle for all three legs.
    • For uneven terrain or specific positioning, adjust each leg's angle independently by loosening the lockable, mobile spreader-to-column junction ring and setting the leg to the required angle. Re-tighten the ring to secure.

2.3 Attaching a Tripod Head

The 475B tripod features a solid tripod/head plate with an industry-standard 3/8-inch screw for attaching a tripod head (sold separately).

  1. Align the tripod head's mounting hole with the 3/8-inch screw on the tripod plate.
  2. Rotate the tripod head clockwise onto the screw until it is finger-tight.
  3. Utilize the three angled grub screws on the tripod plate to further secure the head and prevent accidental unscrewing or unwanted panoramic rotation. Tighten these screws gently with an appropriate tool.

2.4 Livellar tat-Tripod

Use the built-in bubble spirit level located on the tripod chassis to ensure your setup is perfectly horizontal. Adjust the leg lengths or angles as necessary until the bubble is centered within the indicator.

3. It-Tħaddim tat-Tripod

3.1 Adjusting Height with Geared Center Column

The geared center column allows for precise and controlled vertical adjustment of your camera.

  1. Ensure the center column lock knob is loosened.
  2. Rotate the foldaway handle to raise or lower the center column. The geared mechanism provides smooth, incremental movement.
  3. Once the desired height is reached, tighten the center column lock knob firmly to secure the column in place.

3.2 Using the Mid-Level Spreader

The built-in mid-level spreader enhances anti-torsional rigidity and prevents the tripod legs from spreading too wide. This design keeps the spreader clear of ground debris and is suitable for uneven terrain.

3.3 Safety Payload

The Manfrotto 475B is designed to support equipment up to a specific weight. Always ensure your camera and accessories, including the tripod head, do not exceed the tripod's maximum weight limit of 26.5 pounds (12 kg). Exceeding this limit can compromise stability and potentially damage your equipment or the tripod.
