4. Frequency Programming
The RB689 operates on UHF frequencies (400-470MHz). For specific channel configurations and power settings, programming software is required. The default frequency range is 450-470MHz for legal compliance. If frequency expansion (400-470MHz) is needed, you must unlock the software:
- Download the frequency writing software: Frequency Software Link 1
- Iftaħ is-softwer.
- Agħfas u żomm il- CTRL key on your keyboard, then press 8. A password box will appear.
- Daħħal 11882 as the password. (Note: If using a desktop computer, ensure you enter the letters above the number 8 if applicable).
- If you encounter issues with the fifth decimal place of the frequency automatically changing, use this alternative software link: Frequency Software Link 2

Għajnuniet għall-Utent
- Frequency Programming is Key: For optimal performance and to utilize features like wireless copy and alarm, ensure your radio is properly programmed using the provided software. Pay close attention to the frequency range and specific function key assignments.
- Bluetooth Re-pairing: If you unpair your Bluetooth headset from the radio, remember to exit and re-enter the radio's pairing mode before attempting to re-pair. This ensures a fresh connection attempt.
- Ġestjoni tal-Enerġija: While the RB689 boasts a high-capacity battery, managing power output can extend usage. Use the default 5W power for shorter distances to conserve battery life, and switch to 10W only when a wider range is necessary.
