  1. Mess PTT: Touch-sensitive Push-To-Talk area.

Setup

1. Installa l-antenna

Screw the detachable antenna clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is firmly seated. Ensure a secure connection for optimal performance.

2. Installa l-batterija

Align the battery with the grooves on the back of the radio and slide it upwards until it clicks into place. To remove, slide the battery release latch and pull the battery downwards.

3. Iċċarġja l-Batterija

Before initial use, fully charge the radio's battery. Place the radio (with battery installed) into the desktop charger. Connect the desktop charger to a power source using a USB wall adapter, power bank, or PC. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status.

Charge the Bluetooth headset using the provided Type-C charging cable.

4. Frequency Programming

The RB689 operates on UHF frequencies (400-470MHz). For specific channel configurations and power settings, programming software is required. The default frequency range is 450-470MHz for legal compliance. If frequency expansion (400-470MHz) is needed, you must unlock the software:

  • Download the frequency writing software: Frequency Software Link 1
  • Iftaħ is-softwer.
  • Agħfas u żomm il- CTRL key on your keyboard, then press 8. A password box will appear.
  • Daħħal 11882 as the password. (Note: If using a desktop computer, ensure you enter the letters above the number 8 if applicable).
  • If you encounter issues with the fifth decimal place of the frequency automatically changing, use this alternative software link: Frequency Software Link 2

Istruzzjonijiet Operattivi

1. Ixgħel/Itfi u Aġġustament tal-Volum

Dawwar il- Swiċċ tal-Volum/Qawwa (2) clockwise to turn the radio on. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn the radio off.

2. Għażla tal-Kanal

Uża l- PF1/Channel Up (8) u PF2/Channel Down (9) buttons to select your desired communication channel. The current channel will be displayed on the LED screen.

3. Adjusting Power Output (High Power Mode)

The RB689 supports 5W (default) and 10W power output. To switch to high power mode (10W), press the Buttuna PTT (7) u PF1 button (8) simultaneously. You will hear two beeps indicating the power has been switched to high power. High power provides a wider communication range (up to 4km compared to 2.6km for 5W).

4. L-użu tal-flashlight

The powerful flashlight (3) provides illumination. To activate the flashlight, the side key needs to be programmed as the 'lamp' function in advance using the programming software.

5. Tqabbil tal-Bluetooth

The RB689 radio can be paired with the included Bluetooth headset for hands-free operation. The headset can also be paired with a mobile phone.

Pairing Radio with Bluetooth Headset:

  • Ensure both the radio and headset are powered on.
  • Put the Bluetooth headset into pairing mode (refer to headset manual for specific steps, usually involves holding the power button).
  • On the RB689 radio, activate Bluetooth pairing mode (this may require programming a function key or accessing a menu via software).
  • Once paired, the indicator lights on both devices will confirm connection.

Nota: After canceling a pairing, the walkie talkie must exit and re-enter pairing mode, or it cannot be paired with the Bluetooth headset again.

6. Wireless Copy Function

The wireless copy function allows you to quickly duplicate frequency settings from one RB689 radio to others, improving efficiency. To use this feature, the wireless ID and wireless frequency must be set identically on all radios via programming software.

7. Local/Remote Alarm Function

The RB689 features an alarm function for emergencies. To activate this, the Local/Remote alarm option needs to be selected, and either the PF1 or PF2 button must be programmed as the 'alarm' function in advance using the programming software.
