Setup

The Tramex ME5 requires 2 AA batteries for operation. These are typically included. To install or replace batteries:

The ME5 features a large analog display that shows moisture content readings. The top scale indicates Wood %MC (Moisture Content) from 5-30%, while the bottom scale provides a 0-100 comparative reading for other materials.
Selecting Material Mode and Depth
The ME5 allows you to select different material modes and measurement depths:
- Wood - Timber: Measures wood moisture content percentage (5-30%).
- Shallow Depth: Penetrates up to 0.4 inches (9 mm) for surface readings.
- Drywall - Roofing: Comparative scale for these materials.
- Plaster - Tile: Comparative scale for these materials.
- Ġebel: Comparative scale for masonry materials.
Use the mode selection buttons on the device to cycle through the material types and depth settings. The selected mode will be indicated by an illuminated LED.

- Turn on the ME5.
- Select the appropriate material mode and depth for the material you are testing.
- Place the device flat against the surface of the material. Ensure full contact with the sensor pads on the back of the device.
- Read the moisture content directly from the analog display.
- For wood, refer to the Wood %MC scale. For other materials, use the comparative scale.

- Bluetooth Connectivity & Data Mapping: The ME5 can seamlessly connect to the Tramex Meters App (available for iOS and Android) via Bluetooth. This allows for geo-tagging, mapping, and reporting of moisture readings.
- High Moisture Audio Warning Tone: The device features an optional audible alert that notifies you when moisture levels exceed pre-set safe thresholds.
- Hold / Freeze Function: Press the 'Hold' button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful for taking readings in challenging or hard-to-reach areas, allowing you to view the result after removing the device from the surface.

Wipe the device with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor pads are free from dust and debris for accurate readings.

Store the ME5 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
