3. Gwida ta' Setup

Follow these steps to set up your ASUS N300 WiFi Router:

  1. Qabbad l-antenni: Screw the two detachable 5dBi antennas onto the connectors at the rear of the router. Ensure they are securely fastened.

  2. Qabbad mal-Modem: Connect one end of the provided RJ-45 cable to the WAN port (usually blue) on the back of the router. Connect the other end to your modem's Ethernet port.

  3. Qabbad mal-Kompjuter (Mhux obbligatorju għas-Setup): For initial setup, you can connect your computer directly to one of the LAN ports (yellow) on the router using another RJ-45 cable. Alternatively, you can connect wirelessly after powering on.
  4. Qawwa Mixgħul: Connect the power adapter to the router's DC-in port and plug it into a power outlet. Press the power button to turn on the router.
  5. Iċċekkja l-Indikaturi LED: Once powered on, observe the LED indicators on the front panel. The Power, WAN, LAN (if connected), and Wi-Fi LEDs should illuminate, indicating proper operation.

4. Modi Operattivi

The RT-N12_D1 offers three distinct operating modes for enhanced versatility:

  • Router Mode (Default): In this mode, the device acts as your primary internet gateway, connecting your local network to the internet. It manages IP addresses, provides Wi-Fi, and handles network traffic.
  • Modalità Punt ta' Aċċess (AP): This mode transforms the router into a wireless access point, extending an existing wired network wirelessly. It connects to a wired router or modem and broadcasts a Wi-Fi signal, allowing wireless devices to connect to the wired network.
  • Modalità Extender tal-Medda: In this mode, the device extends the coverage of an existing Wi-Fi network. It connects wirelessly to your main router and re-broadcasts the signal, eliminating Wi-Fi dead zones.

You can easily switch between these modes using the Software EZ switch located on the back of the router, or through the ASUSWRT graphical user interface in your web browser.

Keeping your router's firmware up to date is crucial for optimal performance, security, and stability. ASUS regularly releases firmware updates that include bug fixes, new features, and security enhancements.

  • Via Web Interface:

    3. Go to "Administration" > "Restore/Save/Upload Setting".
    4. Click the "Restore" button next to "Factory default" and confirm.
    5. The router will reboot, and all settings will be reset.

  • Power Cycle Devices: Turn off your modem and router. Wait for 30 seconds, then turn on the modem first. Once the modem is fully online (indicated by stable lights), turn on the router.
  • Verify Internet Setup: Aċċessa r-router web interface and navigate to the WAN settings. Confirm that the internet connection type (e.g., PPPoE, Static IP, Automatic IP) and credentials (username/password if applicable) are correctly entered as provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
